Design Engineer - Facade Projects
Job Description
The Senior Façade Design Engineer is responsible for delivering facade design solutions from concept to construction stage, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and approved drawings. The role includes technical design, coordination with stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members to achieve high-quality and timely project delivery.
Key Individual Accountabilities
Strategic
- Ownership of particular sketch, detail and drawings
- Study / Understand project technical specification/ architectural and structural drawings
- Work planning for own work
- Timely submission of system drawings and shop drawings
Financial
- Optimized designs as per project requirement
- Creation of proper BOM for a project
Customer/ External Orientation
- Understand clients requirement
- Meet the delivery deadlines of design work
- Information flow
- Sales, Manufacturing, Service/Installation, Purchase, Estimation
- Façade client, Façade Consultants
Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge - Behavioral: Work under pressure deliver as per requirement
- Functional: Manage day to day work with proper planning
- Technical:
- Education BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical or Civil engineering / Arch.
- Experience Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Façade design.
- Required:
- Strong understanding of façade systems including unitized, semi-unitized, stick systems, skylights, canopies, and special structures
- Expertise in design development from concept to IFC (Issued for Construction) stage
- Ability to interpret architectural intent and translate into technically feasible façade solutions
- Knowledge of material behavior: Glass, Aluminium, Steel, Stone, ACP, GRC, etc.
- Experience in system detailing, fabrication detailing, and installation methodologies.
- Experience in MOMs, technical submittals, RFIs, and compliance reports
- Familiarity with ASTM, AAMA, IS codes
- Support fabrication and site execution with design inputs
Key Performance Indicators
- Delivery timeline adherence (System /Shop drawings)
- Design/Shop drawings submission with optional sketches
- Developing details following the project spec and intent
